Azerbaijan: journalist reprimanded for singing "International" in the dungeon

Einullah Fatullaev, editor-in-chief of the "Real Azerbaijan" newspaper, who is serving his term in Colony No. 12, was placed in dungeon for the period of 10 days. After Fatullaev started singing the "International" there, he was awarded with a written reprimand.

Advocate Isakhan Ashurov has informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the prison administration had motivated Fatullaev's placement into the dungeon by the fact that he was "breaching the order".

However, according to Mr Ashurov, the cause of punishment was Fatullaev's discontent with the quality of prison food.

Isakhan Ashurov treats Fatullaev's placement into the dungeon after many days of his hunger strike as a very severe punishment.

In their turn, officials at the Penitentiary Service have reported that the cause of the journalist's placement into the dungeon was his violations of the internal regulations, and an official statement about this E. Fatullaev's punishment will soon be promulgated.
