US Senator: reconnaissance confirms that Georgia was the first to attack South Ossetia
Republican Dana Rohrabacher, deputy chairman of subcommittee for international organizations of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, has stated that according to the data of American reconnaissance services the latest warfare in South Ossetia was started by Georgia.
"All the reconnaissance sources with whom I spoke - and I spoke with many of them during the parliamentary vacations, confirm that the recent warfare in Georgia and in its breakaway provinces had been initiated by Georgia," Senator said on September 9 at US Congress hearings.
According to the American congressman who is quoted by the RIA "Novosti", "Georgians, not Russians, had broken the armistice, and no talks about provocations and other things can alter this fact."
Mr Rohrabacher called a "fig-leaf" all the attempts to impose the guilt for unleashing the warfare on South Ossetia. "Yes, some people will use this fig-leaf and say that South-Ossetians could have provoked military actions, launched a missile or shoot a cannon," said Dana Rohrabacher, having reminded about the incident in the Tonguing Bay, which was used by the States to start the Vietnam War, and later turned out to be a provocation.
"Russians are right, and we are wrong. Georgians had started all this, and Russians had put an end to it," said the deputy chairman of the Congress subcommittee.
