Shamba: Abkhazia dislikes the status offered to it in Geneva
Sergey Shamba, head of Abkhazia's MFA, told journalists that Abkhazia is not satisfied with the status offered to it at the international discussion in Geneva.
We remind you that today in Geneva behind closed door consultations have started on ensuring safety of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, organized by the European Union, United Nations and Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
Participation of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in negotiations became known shortly before the start of them. Their presence at the conference was under question till the very last moment.
"We were not satisfied with the status, therefore, no further debate has sense," said Mr Shamba, leaving the Geneva Palace of Nations, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
The Foreign Minister has stated that his country will participate in the discussion only as a full-fledged participant of the process.
"But now the Georgian party was against it, and we have what we have," said Sergey Shamba.
He has noted that still the first meeting took place, and now it is time to coordinate the positions.
"Without us, there is no sense to hold discussion. Without Abkhazia, nothing can be solved in this region. And without South Ossetia too," he added.
