Nine militiamen from Chechnya killed in shelling in Ingushetia

As a result of shelling a motor vehicle with militiamen from Chechnya in Arshty village, Sunzha District of Ingushetia, nine persons perished and ten more were wounded, as reported by Alexei Vorobyov, Secretary of the Security Council of Ingushetia.

The "Gazel" truck, in which militiamen were transported, was shelled today at about 9:30 a.m. Moscow time in the central street of the village. The fire from a grenade launcher and firearms was opened from the adjacent forest. As a result, the "Gazel" caught fire, as the "Interfax-South" reports; and the ITAR-TASS adds that a gas pipeline was also damaged by shelling.

According to Ruslan Alkhanov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Chechnya, these militiamen took part in a joint special operation against militants, conducted by power agencies of Ingushetia and Chechnya.
