First damage claim brought to the court by persons injured in Moscow metro terrorist act
To Tverskoy court of Moscow there was brought the first claim for 5 million rubles for moral damage to the child, whose parents were killed in the terrorists' attack in Lubyanka metro station on 29 March.
We would remind you that as consequence of two blasts carried out by suicide women-bombers on the morning of 29 March in Lubyanka and Park Kultury metro stations in Moscow, 40 persons were killed and above 130 were injured with varied severity.
Interfax quotes Igor Trunov, advocate representing interests of those injured in the bomb attacks in Moscow metro, as saying today that a complaint against the National Anti-Terrorist Committee (NATC) for failure to act and a suit against Finance Ministry have been filed. According to Trunov, failure to act implies that NATC failed to take sufficient terrorist prevention measures that led to the double terrorist acts in Moscow.
Trunov says that the defense cherishes no illusions as to the court decisions because the Russian legislation states in such cases that terrorists should pay. Trunov, however, has reminded of the decisions taken by the European Human Rights Court (EHRC) on Turkey and Great Britain, specifically, the state must pay on the ground of the European Convention for Human Rights, according to which, a state is responsible a priori for its citizens' life.
As it was reported by Ekho Moskvy, in the event of a refusal to reimburse, the advocates of the persons injured in the terrorist acts are determined to appeal to the EHRC.
