Court upholds suspension of inquiry into Akhmednabiyev's murder
The Sovietskiy District Court of Makhachkala has dismissed the complaint of the advocate Tumas Misakyan, who asked to recognize as illegal the suspension of the investigation into the murder of the journalist Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev and recognize illegal the investigator's inaction. The advocate intends to appeal against the decision of the District Court.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev, a correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" and deputy editor-in-chief of the "Novoe Delo", was killed on July 9, 2013, in a suburb of Makhachkala. The basic version of the crime was in the professional activities of Akhmednabiyev.
Another decision to suspend the inquiry was taken on November 27, 2015.
According to Misakyan, who was invited by the "Caucasian Knot" to protect the victim's interests in the murder case, from the very beginning, the investigation was ineffective, and investigators failed to study all possible versions.
According to his version, a special place in the inquiry should be given to Akhmednabiyev's publications on his revelations during municipal elections; and it was necessary to work with the version of the "execution list", where Akhmednabiyev was included.
The advocate has recalled that in September 2009 leaflets were spread in the republic of anonymous authors, who promised to take revenge over well-known journalists, rights defenders and lawyers for the perished policemen and civilians.
The prosecutor has noted that the decision to suspend the investigation was checked by the prosecutor's office; and violations were found therein. He noted that the effectiveness depends not only on investigators, but also on operative services.
