Activists come out to " Women's Solidarity March" in Tbilisi

Hundreds of people took part in the march for women's rights, organized in central Tbilisi in response to the "Georgians' March".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 14, the "Georgians' March" took place in Tbilisi, the participants of which demanded from the authorities to immediately extradite all the illegal migrants from the country and ban the oppositional "United National Movement" (UNM) Party.

Today, the "Women's Solidarity March" was organized in Agmashenebeli Avenue – the same place where the "Georgians' March" was held earlier. According to organizers, the action is a response to the "Georgians' March" and threats from the participants thereof addressed to Tatiya Dolidze, a member of the Georgia's youth delegation to the United Nations, an activist and lecturer of the "Georgia's University", who condemned the nationalists' march and criticized its organizers.

Based on the application filed by Ms Dolidze to the police, a criminal case was opened.

The today's "Women's Solidarity March" was organized by 17 non-governmental organizations of Georgia. Its participants held the posters reading "Threats and hatred won't stop us!" and "We won't tolerate oppression and violence!" They demand to punish the participants of the "Georgians' March", who had threatened Tatiya Dolidze, and adopt a law against sexual harassment.
