Defence achieves initiation of criminal case on attack on "Caucasian Knot" correspondent
In Makhachkala, three months after an attack on a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, investigators have instituted a criminal case under the Article stipulating up to six years of imprisonment.
On June 12, at a rally of Navalny's supporters held in Makhachkala, several provocateurs attacked journalists. One broke a video camera of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent who filed a complained to the police after the attack. A mobile phone was knocked out of the hands of Saida Vagabova, a journalist of the "Chernovik" (Draft), and her colleague Bariyat Idrisova lost her mobile phone, which was snatched from her hands.
According to advocate Akhmed Elmurzaev, the criminal case has been instituted under the Article "Obstruction of the lawful professional activity of journalists".
According to the investigators' resolution, an unidentified man demanded from the correspondent "to stop shooting with the video camera what was happening and after that damaged a camera monitor."
Let us remind you that on June 16, the "Chernovik" reported that three men who attacked the journalists in Makhachkala are identified by photographs, including an official from the Makhachkala City Mayor's Office and an entrepreneur from the Tlyarata District.
