Relatives of victims report about life after terror act in Volgograd
The terror act at the railway station and the explosion in a trolleybus committed four years ago became a terrible tragedy for the city, Volgograd residents told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. Employees of the railway station, who avoided injuries, did not receive compensation for severe psychological harm inflicted to them.
The explosion at the railway station in Volgograd killed 18 people and injured 45 others. On December 30, another explosion occurred in a trolleybus, as a result of which 16 people were killed and 28 others were injured.
Four natives of Dagestan were accused of involvement in the terror acts, including Magomednabi and Tagir Batirov brothers, Alautdin Dadaev, and Ibragim Magomedov. In December 2014, they were sentenced to terms from 3 years 10 months to 19 years of imprisonment in penal colonies.
On December 29 and 30, Volgograd will hold mourning events on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the two terror acts.
The mother of Dmitry Makovkin, a policeman killed in the explosion at the railway station, noted that his colleagues remembered her son. Dmitry Makovkin was awarded posthumously the Order of Courage. On the day of the terror act, he was on duty at the entrance to the railway station and stopped the terrorist.
Natalia, a resident of Volgograd, has reported that her husband worked at the railway station immediately after the terror act. He got no injuries and he was not recognized as a victim, but his health state deteriorated, the woman said. According to her, her husband "did not get anything" from the authorities.
Victims of terror acts should be granted the special status, since those people "are certainly different from those who got a disability in the ordinary life," believes Irina Biryukova, an advocate from the "Public Verdict" Foundation.
Irina Biryukova has supposed that after four years, the victims of the terror acts independently pay for their medical treatment.
