Politicians and rights defenders support MPs' statement on Nagorno-Karabakh status

Seven extra-parliamentary parties and more than 80 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have supported the statement of the People's Assembly (Parliament) of Armenia on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh and its right to self-determination.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Karabakh MPs had adopted a statement that the change of the Nagorno-Karabakh status is unacceptable and called on the Armenian Prime Minister to abandon negotiations with Azerbaijan, where the loss of independence is being discussed.

Let us remind you that on April 13, at the session of the People's Assembly of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, the Premier, stated that the international community had offered to "somewhat lower the bar on Karabakh."

On April 19, in Moscow, at Pashinyan's meeting with President Vladimir Putin, a large part of the agenda was dedicated to the settlement of the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. The result was the signing of documents on the countries' cooperation in various spheres, as well as a statement on the need to speed up the creation of a commission for border delimitation and security issues on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

Pashinyan's visit to Moscow takes place amid protests held by Armenian opposition in Yerevan, where activists criticizes Pashinyan's policies. On April 17, Arthur Vanetsyan, the leader of the "Airenik" Party, and his supporters began a round-the-clock protest action, during which two activists went on a hunger strike.
