Family from Elista fined for picketing in defence of freedom of speech
The Elista City Court has fined a local resident and her daughter by 10,000 roubles each, and her son – by 20,000 roubles for their pickets in defence of the freedom of speech that were not sanctioned by the authorities. All the family members were charged with violating the rules for holding a rally.
On July 4, the Elista woman, her daughter and son held pickets in favour of the freedom of speech in Russia. They were detained by law enforcers, who said that the pickets were held without notification to the Elista Mayoralty, the "OVD-Info"* reported on August 15.
The court has fined them under Part 5, Article 20.2, of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses.
