After attempt on Chechen commander Alaudinov, advocate demands to open criminal case
Denis Shapiro, an advocate for Apti Alaudinov, the commander of the "Akhmat" special unit, has demanded from investigators to initiate a criminal case on an attempted murder after an attempt was made to poison Alaudinov. This year in Russia, an encroachment on the life of such a high-ranking military commander was committed in for the first time, the advocate has stressed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 13, 2023, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, stated that Alaudinov had been hospitalized after receiving a letter soaked in a poisonous substance. On February 25, it became known that Alaudinov had been discharged from hospital.
The envelope with the poisonous substance had a pungent odour, Alaudinov said earlier. The head of Chechnya promised to avenge the attempted poisoning.
Denis Shapiro insists that the check of Alaudinov's poisoning be transferred to the central office of the Investigating Committee of Russian Federation (ICRF), so that a criminal case is opened there under the article on attempted murder, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
The proceedings cannot be launched, since this requires a full-fledged investigation, including the appointment of the necessary examinations, the "Kommersant" has noted.
The advocate has called this case special, since in Russia for the first time a crime was committed in this way against a military commander of such a high rank.
According to the "Kommersant", the poisoned envelope contained a letter of gratitude to the Fatherland defenders, addressed personally to Alaudinov. Its sender was an 83-year-old woman from the Rostov Region. Mr Shapiro believes that the people who committed the assassination attempt on Alaudinov are connected with the Ukrainian party.
Let us remind you that analysts noted that people from Alaudinov's entourage may stand behind the attempted poisoning. They also did not rule out that the assassination attempt was organized by Ukrainian intelligence services.
