ECtHR recognizes violation of Police Colonel Gadjiev’s rights
Police Colonel Salikh Gadjiev was dismissed from the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for criticizing problems at the department, and the dismissal violated his right to expression of his personal opinion, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) recognized.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Salikh Gadjiev was dismissed from the MIA in 2013, but demanded reinstatement. The grounds for the dismissal of Salikh Gadjiev were his critical statements addressed to top-ranking officials of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs, which was considered a gross violation of discipline. Salikh Gadjiev asked President Putin to intervene in the situation, but the court found that the Salikh Gadjiev’s claims concerning the Ministry of Internal Affairs were false.
The ECtHR awarded Salikh Gadjiev 7500 euros in compensation for moral damage.
