Opposition indignant with dispersal of demonstration in Armenia

Dispersal of the demonstration in Armenia on October 23 is another link in the chain of aggressive actions of the authorities directed against their own nation. Garnik Markaryan, Chairman of the Party named "Homeland and Honour", has told about it to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, making his comments on the collision of the police units with peaceful demonstrators in the centre of Yerevan.

Smbat Aivasyan, member of the Political Board of the Party "Republic", has stated to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the events of last night evidence that the authorities are in panic and actually horrified by the meeting of the opposition to be held on October 26.

We note here that on October 23, at about 7:00 p.m. local time, a clash took place between the defenders of the law and the peaceful demonstrators, which had ended with beating of the demonstrators and their violent transportation to the police station "Centre" of Yerevan.

The march with participation of about 100 persons began at about 6:30 p.m. local time and made its way along the central streets of the city. The participants of the march used a megaphone to notify the population about the meeting of the opposition appointed on October 26, in which Levon Ter-Petrosyan, the first President of Armenia, will also take part.
