Advocate reports pressure on defendant in case on riots at Makhachkala airport

In a case on riots at an airport in Makhachkala, one of the defendants was subjected to pressure, his advocate reported. Meanwhile, the defender was underaged at the time of his arrest.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that 27 criminal cases on the riots in the Makhachkala airport have been sent to courts of the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories. On October 25, the prosecutor’s office reported that seven cases were being heard by courts in the Stavropol Territory, two other cases – by courts in the Krasnodar Territory, and three organizers of the riots were wanted.

“A guy named Elmurziev turned 18 only recently. He worked at a furniture workshop. According to his story, the young man arrived to the airport, as he heard there would be a rally there, and he came to see what was going on. When Elmurziev was detained after that, they tried to force him to say that he was allegedly throwing stones,” reported advocate Biysoltan Kaparov.

Elmurziev is currently being on trial with a group of other defendants, and the case is being considered by the Georgievsky City Court. At the same time, according to the advocate’s report, none of the questioned witnesses identified his client or indicated that the young man had done anything illegal.

Let us remind you that on August 23, the Armavir City Court sentenced five defendants, including Anvarbek Ataev, Islam Ibragimov, Magomed Omaraskhabov, Rabadan Radzhabov, and Salik Ramazanov, to imprisonment for terms ranging from six years and four months to nine years. The court pronounced the harsh sentence without evidence of the defendants’ participation in the riots at the Makhachkala airport, their advocates stated. The court of appeal upheld the sentences.
