67 jury candidates for litigation on attack on Nalchik self-disqualify

Today, at the process on the criminal case dealing with the attack on power agencies of Kabardino-Balkaria, out of 145 candidates for the jury 67 persons have self-withdrawn. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by the advocates-participants in the case.

The would-be jurymen have referred to health problems and their business preoccupation as the reasons of self-disqualification. Among the candidates there were also people who lost their relatives on October 13, 2005. They have also self-withdrawn.

The advocates have also told that in one case the court itself rejected a candidate who gave a positive answer to the question whether "he thought the defendants to be criminals", and another rejected person answered that he would agree with any decision of the court.

The court session will continue tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., when the selection of jurymen will go on.

We remind you that the task is to select 12 jurymen and a couple of reserve ones. After the end of the selection of jurymen, mass media workers will be admitted to the process.

In total, 58 persons are in the prisoners' dock. All of them are accused of about ten grave crimes, including "terrorism", "participation in illegal armed formation", "attempt on life of employees of law enforcement bodies", etc.
