South Ossetia demands that Georgia should restore water supply to Tskhinvali

South Ossetia has laid an ultimatum to Georgia to restore normal water supply in Tskhinvali by eliminating illegal water takes-off in the Edis-Tskhinvali pipeline, and threatened with response measures.

Earlier the peace-makers of the Joint Peace-making Forces in the Georgia-Ossetia conflict zone accused the population of Georgian villages  of making numerous takes-off in the water pipeline which supplies Tskhinvali, which almost depleted the supply of potable water to the South Ossetia capital.

According to the South Ossetia committee on information and press, Boris Chochiyev, co-chair of the South Ossetia part of the Joint Monitoring Commission, asked Gregor Mikhalski, head of Tskhinvali OSCE office, to hand the ultimatum to the Georgian party.

"If the monitoring of the Edis-Tskhinvali pipeline passing via Georgian villages is not done by the morning of July 31... for the purpose of eliminating illegal takes-off and the water supply to Tskhinvali is not restored by 16.00 on the same day, the government of South Ossetia will not block the actions of youth and public organizations which demand that all irrigation canals passing from Tskhinvali to Georgia should be closed", runs the ultimatum.
