Okruashvili's defence to appeal against the arrest of the leader of the "Movement for United Georgia"

Eka Beseliya, advocate of Irakliy Okruashvili, ex-Minister of Defence of Georgia and the leader of the opposition party "Movement for United Georgia", intends to appeal against the court ruling to arrest the oppositionist.

"There were no proofs to pass this ruling. It was simply ridiculous to take messages or telephone calls as evidences. I've demanded to present evidences that Okruashvili had known about the sitting. But the investigation has no evidences of this sort," Ms Beseliya said.

She has added that even the members of Okruashvili's family say that they cannot contact him these days.

We remind you that today the court has ruled to aggravate the punishment of Irakliy Okruashvili and to replace the bale for the arrest. Prosecutor Ketevan Chomakhashvili has stated that there were two grounds for the ruling: firstly, the fact that Irakliy Okruashvili didn't answer to calls and SMS messages sent by representatives of the Prosecutor's Office on the preliminary hearing, and secondly, businessman Tamaz Nizharadze who had brought a part of Okruashvili's bale (2.9 million US dollars) later refused to secure the bale.

Supposedly, in the near future Irakliy will be announced into international search.

The trial of Okruashvili who is currently in Germany is appointed for November 16.
