Kabardino-Balkaria: the Bar tries to find out why advocate Dorogova was not let to SIZO

The leaders of the Bar Association of Kabardino-Balkaria sent a letter to Oleg Zharikov, Public Prosecutor of Kabardino-Balkaria, asking him to clear out the reasons why advocate Larissa Dorogova was not admitted to the Nalchik SIZO, where she wanted to render legal aid to one of the defendants.

The letter runs, in particular, that "being in agreement on rendering legal aid to the detainee, advocate Dorogova started rendering this aid in conformity with Article 2, Point 2, Part 1 of the Federal Law "On Advocacy and the Bar in the Russian Federation".

However, on January 31, 2008, she was not admitted to enter the SIZO building.

We are hereby asking you to investigate the incident and inform us about the reason of the refusal to let Ms Dorogova into the SIZO."
