Access to SIZO of Kabardino-Balkaria banned to advocate Dorogova

Today, lawyer Larissa Dorogova was not let to the investigatory isolation facility (SIZO) of the Kabardino-Balkaria's Department of the Federal Punishment Enforcement Service, where her client - one of participants of the events of October 13, 2005, whom she consults on defence of his rights in custody, is kept.

Ms Dorogova said, "At the entrance, they asked for a warrant, although, according to the regulations, the warrant is presented only at the special unit; then they told me that the chief had ordered not to let me in. I addressed the Republic's public prosecutor assistant in charge of supervising detention facilities, but he answered that he couldn't help me."

The "Caucasian Knot" reported earlier that in the course of preliminary hearing the defendants petitioned about exclusion from the evidence list on their criminal case of the facts, which were obtained through violation of the law and with application of tortures.

Some of the defendants have appealed against the facts of application of torture; therefore, they need additional consultations on their rights. This was the aim of advocate Larissa Dorogova, when she made her way to the SIZO, but in vain.
