HRC "Memorial": parents of students from Chechnya and Ingushetia fear for life of their children educated in Stavropol
The parents of the students who came to Stavropol from Chechnya and Ingushetia to get their education are concerned with frequent murders "of Caucasus-origin nationals" committed in this city and want to take their children away.
We remind you that on April 20, late at night, two third-year students of the North-Caucasian State Technical University (abridged as "SevKavGTU"), natives of Ingushetia and Chechnya, were walking along the streets of the city of Stavropol and suddenly were attacked by a group of young men. Having asked for cigarettes, the unknown youngsters then attacked the students with knives. The victims were brought to hospital, where one of them later died.
On the fact of the incident, a criminal case was initiated under Articles 105 ("Murder accomplished by a group of persons under prior conspiracy, or by an organized group of hooligan intent") and 213 ("Hooliganism") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Meanwhile, as the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" reports, the girl who dared to evidence on the above crime is receiving threats; she cannot feel in safety, and members of law enforcement bodies, most likely, cannot guarantee her protection.
