Arrested mayor of Elista denied hospital treatment in Kalmykia
On July 31, the law enforcement agencies in Kalmykia refused hospital treatment to Radiy Burulov, mayor of Elista held at the pre-trial prison.
Galina Bovayeva, doctor of the cardiological team at the Elista Emergency Station, reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that, on July 31 at 15.50, a call from the duty officer at the Elista town department in internal affairs came to the emergency dispatch panel. The officer reported that R.Burulov, Elista mayor held at the pre-trial prison, complained about heart aches and needed medical aid.
"During the examination the patient complained about burning, ache and pressure in his chest. The examination revealed high blood pressure and stenocardia, as well as swelling of the left knee joint. I assessed the patient's condition as mildly grave," stated the doctor. "It was obvious that the patient needed hospital treatment and a consultation of a cardiologist at the republic's hospital ".
However, the security chief prohibited Burulov to be taken to the hospital, relayed Galina Bovayeva. According to her, she insisted that the fact should be registered in the accompanying document.
The newspaper "Elistinskaya Panorama" reported that both the defense lawyers and the prosecution insisted that Burulov should be imposed an undertaking not to leave, rather than arrested. However, the arguments of the parties were not accepted by Arthur Sangadzhiyev, judge of Elista town court, during the court session on July 30 where the mayor was brought directly from the hospital bed.
