Volgograd residents hold rally for better roads

Today at a meeting, residents of the Kirov District of Volgograd have demanded to improve and repair the local road network, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The action was organized by the Volgograd Public Human Rights Organization "Public Independent Inspection", and included a motor rally and a meeting, Alexei Ulyanov, the chairman of the organization, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In total, the event was attended by about 50 vehicles and nearly 100 people.

"Kirov Street – the main street of the Kirov District – is in terrible condition. Today, I turned to inspectors of the road-and-post service (PPS) offering to close the traffic. Indeed, parents with children drive along the street; many road accidents happen there, but I received no answer. Last year, they planned to close several streets in Volgograd, but never did it," Alexander Boromirskiy, a resident of the Kirov District, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The rally ended with adopting a resolution calling on the authorities to put the roads of the Kirov and other districts of Volgograd into proper order.
