Residents of Abkhazian village demand to cancel quarantine
Participants of a spontaneous rally claimed that the village of Labra was placed under quarantine, while local residents were not provided with food stuffs and medicines.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from August 25, the two-week quarantine has been in force in the village of Labra. The village was placed under quarantine after five cases of the coronavirus infection had been identified there, one of which led to the patient's death.
Today, about 30 people have gathered in front of the house of Arutyun Melkonyan, the head of Labra. The residents demand to open the exit from the village. The protesters express their indignation about the fact that they were not provided with medicines, coronavirus protective equipment, and food stuffs.
"Who will feed our children if we do not go to the market? Who will pay us the cost of living?" said a participant of the protest action as quoted by the "Sputnik-Abkhazia".
