SC mitigates arrest terms of figurants in Tskaev's death case

The Supreme Court (SC) of North Ossetia has softened the conditions and terms of arrest for former law enforcers Alan Khokhoev, Georgy Tsomaev, Shota Maisuradze and Soslan Sitokhov, accused within the case of the death of Vladimir Tskaev, a citizen of Vladikavkaz, which occurred after he was questioned at the police station.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 26, 2023, a court in Vladikavkaz postponed a new trial of the case on Tskaev's death due to the non-appearance of three defendants, one of whom is at large and has allegedly left Russia.

As to the above four former law enforcers, the SC has reduced the arrest term by more than a month – from October 11 down to September 7. As to Soslan Sitokhov, who was placed under house arrest, the SC allowed him to leave his permanent residence, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reports.

Let us remind you that in April 2022, the SC of North Ossetia commuted the sentences of six policemen: four of them (Atsamaz Datiev, Vladimir Valiev, Oleg Dzampaev and Azamat Tsugkiev) were released from punishment due to the expiration of the statute of limitations; while two others (Soslan Sitokhov and Alan Bigaev) had their prison terms reduced. The sentences of four convicts (Georgy Tsomaev, Alan Khokhoev, Shota Maisuradze and Spartak Buzoev) were left unchanged. In November 2022, Spartak Buzoev and Alan Bigaev were released on the conditional early relief (CER). On December 25, 2022, it became known that Soslan Sitokhov filed a petition for CER.

Vladimir Tskaev died after being interrogated at the Vladikavkaz police station on November 1, 2015. The judicial inquiry into his death lasted for more than two years. According to Zemfira Tskaeva, his widow, the defendants' defence protracted the trial process in every possible way.
