Reposting extremist material criticizing "United Russia" results in arrest of Pyatigorsk resident
A court in Pyatigorsk has found Oleg Vasilenko, a local resident, guilty of spreading extremist materials because of his posting a manifesto in a social network that recalled the promises of the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party announced before the 2002 elections. In Russia, the video clip itself is declared extremist and banned from free distribution.
The "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reports that Vasilenko posted the video with election promises of the ruling party on a page in the "VKontakte" social network, thereby disseminating information that contributes to the formation of a "negative attitude towards authorities" and "can turn people against the 'United Russia' Party," the court has ruled. Oleg has pleaded guilty and expressed repentance; the court arrested him for one day.
In 2013, by the ruling of the Kirovsky District Court of Novosibirsk, the video clip "Let's remind swindlers and thieves of their 2002 manifesto" was found to be extremist.
The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that the Supreme Court (SC) of Kalmykia acquitted Sanan Ulanov, a local resident, who had been found guilty of promoting Nazi symbols and then committed suicide on November 22, 2022.
