The wife of mayor of Kalmykia capital claims he is blackmailed

Radiy Burulov, mayor of Kalmykia capital Elista, is pressed into resignation against dismissing the criminal case against him. This has been relayed by the mayor's wife Inna Burulova.

"Radiy Nikolayevich has told me through his lawyer that they started pressure on him. He says that Erendzhenov, investigation officer of RK MoI department on fighting economic crimes, came to his cell and demanded that he should sign an application on his resignation and promised an immediate dismissal of the case", relayed the mayor's wife and noted that Burulov refused the proposal.

For reference, the Elista mayor is now held in the pre-trial prison and has problems with his health. According to Burulov's wife, doctors registered deterioration of his health, he had a few attacks of stenocardia. He is not allowed to meet with his family.

Today, in her interview with the newspaper "Elistinskaya Panorama", Inna Burulova described the events when militiamen took the mayor from the Moscow's research institute of cardiology and made an assumption that the militia officers "came in the evening on purpose, when only the nurse and the doctor on duty  remained in the department, and they simply could not risk objecting to militia officers".

During transportation to Elista, notes Inna Burulova, the law enforcement officers treated Burulov's needs without due advertency. According to her, the mayor could hardly bear the trip.

Burulova is sure that her husband is not going to alter his stand in his confrontation with Kalmykia's authorities. She is also sure that the population will support the mayor.
